Shelley has worked with children all her life. She earned her Bachelors's degree in developmental psychology. She worked in daycare centers with babies and toddlers and then undertook her Master's in Speech-Language Pathology. Shelley devoted 20 years teaching nonverbal children with autism to develop functional communication and conversational skills to those who developed speech. When she retired due to her husband's critical illness she picked up a camera and never looked back. Shelley creates portraits for all ages and excels in her ability to portray the personalities and innocence of childhood. She received best in class for Child Portrait in 2006, 2007, and 2014 in the Professional Photographers of Canada Alberta Competition. She was also published with the cover photo and a five-page article "Finding the Child" in Professional Photographers Magazine in 2013.
